Forty Iowa youth are beginning terms as State 4-H Council members. The State 4-H Council induction was held during the closing ceremonies of the 2017 Iowa 4-H Youth Conference June 29.

On Sunday, Aug. 20, 121 Iowa 4-H volunteers from 94 counties were inducted into the 2017 Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame at the 4-H Exhibits Building at the Iowa State Fair.

On Aug. 21 nearly 2,000 young Iowans experienced the near-total solar eclipse at a local 4-H day camp.

Sixteen Iowa 4-H members qualified for the new Special Awards sponsored by IH Collector’s Club Chapter 5. Youth who exhibited projects at the Iowa State Fair related to IH/Farmall brand family were eligible to participate.

The Iowa 4-H Youth Development program will host an instructor’s training event on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16 at the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Fayette County office in Fayette, Iowa.   

More than 75 Iowa State University Extension and Outreach county offices and partner organizations are working to provide high quality STEM education opportunities to youth for the upcoming solar eclipse.

One hundred thirty Iowa youth from 68 counties participated in the 2017 Awardrobe Clothing Event Aug. 10 at the Iowa State Fair. 

Fifty Iowa 4-H’ers have received 2017 state 4-H project awards. These 4-H youth are recognized as the top winners in their project areas across the state.

Sixteen Iowa 4-H youth have qualified to compete alongside 700 4-H youth from 36 states in the 2017 4-H Shooting Sports National Championships, hosted by the University of Nebraska Lincoln and Nebraska 4-H. 

Three Iowa youth received third-place awards at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, May 14-19 in Los Angeles, Calif.  Eight Iowa students were awarded the opportunity to attend or participate in the international event at the State Science and Technology Fair of Iowa held in March.
