Area hay and forage producers are invited to attend the 35th annual Eastern Iowa Hay Producers Association meeting and conference on Thursday, March 15.

Controlling feed cost while meeting the cow’s nutrient needs requires knowledge of both the feed supply and the animal’s requirements. To help producers understand these important aspects, two separate workshops will be held in northeast Iowa on Feb. 14.

Alison Robertson, extension plant pathologist at Iowa State University, will address methods to reduce mold production on growing crops to decrease risk of molds in feed after harvest. Trevor Smith, University of Guelph, Ontario animal biosciences adjunct professor, will speak about mycotoxins in feed.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will offer "Boots in the Barn," a new program for female beef and dairy producers, in northeast Iowa starting in January. 

University extension services in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin are teaming together to offer the Driftless Region Beef Conference Jan. 25-26, 2018, at the Grand River Convention Center in Dubuque.

While cattle manure provides nutrients needed to produce feed for the cattle, it presents challenges which extension specialists and producers will discuss at the summer feedlot conference.

Eastern Iowa beef producers are invited to learn about the process of completing the BQA Feedyard Assessment at one of three July field days offered through Iowa State University Extension and Outreach.

The upcoming Driftless Region Beef Conference will spotlight several big picture issues facing the beef industry, and organizers say they worked to bring great speakers to address these issues at the Jan. 26-27 event in Dubuque.
