Dairy specialists with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will host webinars on Sept. 19 and 26, entertaining and educating with a dairy version of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire?”

 The ISU Extension and Outreach dairy team has developed a series of budgets to help dairy producers understand their current financial situation and determine the profitability of their operation.

During June Dairy Month, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is offering several educational opportunities across the state to learn about dairy farming first-hand.

Dairy producers in northeast Iowa will learn how to improve and manage their transition cow program at the 2016 Transition Cow Field Days hosted by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach specialists. The program is scheduled at seven Iowa locations in March.

Informational meetings regarding the Margin Protection Program for Dairy will be held at three locations on Friday, Sept. 11, 10 a.m. - noon.

In a step-by-step approach, instructions will be offered for reading a manure test and determining how much of the crop nutrient needs can be met with manure applications.

Dairy nutritionists, industry professionals, veterinarians and producers will hear the latest research of issues concerning the dairy industry, including feed management and behavior at the 2015 4-State Dairy Nutrition and Management Conference, June 10-11.

Dairy and beef producers attending manure management field days will see various systems at work. Northwest Iowa field days are Oct. 1 and 2; northeast Iowa field days are Oct. 8, 9, 14 and 16.
